Hamilton rues missed pole after final-lap struggle and grid penalty in Hungary
Lewis Hamilton admitted Ferrari had the pace to secure pole position for the Hungarian Grand Prix after qualifying, but conceded that he failed to deliver when it mattered most before a post-session grid penalty compounded his disappointment. The seven-time World Champion looked like one of the favourites throughout Saturday at the Hungaroring, having finished second in the final practice session before carrying his strong form into qualifying. Ferrari opted to send both Hamilton and Charles Leclerc through Q1 on the medium compound, giving the team additional strategic flexibility for Sunday's race.
