Ecclestone tops F1 rich list with £6.2 billion fortune

Bernie Ecclestone has unsurprisingly emerged as the richest personality in Formula 1, with an estimated £6.2 billion fortune, according to The Sun. The 82-year-old, who was recently named as the 22nd most powerful person in sports, topped the list beating Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz, who owns the championship-winning Red Bull Racing tean and its sister outfit Toro Rosso. Mateschitz, 68, has been pegged at worth £4.7 billion. Next on the list was John Paul DeJoria, co-owner of the Circuit of The Americas, at £2.7 billion, followed by Singapore Grand Prix promoter Ong Beng Seng (£1 billion) and McLaren co-owner Mansour Ojjeh.
