McLaren out to consolidate

McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh hopes the squad will take another step forward in Bahrain after an improved showing in China. Having struggled both with their qualifying as well as their race pace in Australia and Malaysia, the team showed at Shanghai that they are improving with Jenson Button qualifying P8 and then finishing fifth - his best position of the season. With the European season just around the corner, Whitmarsh hopes Button and team-mate Sergio Perez will continue to move in the right direction at the Sakhir circuit.
