Whitmarsh: Lowe release the right thing to do

McLaren team boss Martin Whitmarsh says it was logical to let Paddy Lowe complete his move to rivals Mercedes earlier than planned, with the 55-year-old hoping the agreement will "create some goodwill" between the two outfits. Lowe, whose McLaren departure was announced in February, had been expected to see out the year at Woking on a form of gardening leave, before joining Mercedes in early 2014.
