Whitmarsh: Pérez has stepped it up

McLaren team boss Martin Whitmarsh has heaped praise on Sergio Pérez ahead of this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix, explaining that the Mexican is "stepping up" his performances after a pressure-filled introduction to the Woking-based outfit. Having collected two points compared to team-mate Jenson Button's 12 over the course of the first three races, Pérez managed to outrace the 2009 World Champion for the first time in Bahrain, before largely matching him at the Circuit de Catalunya.
