Bahrain one step closer to opening 2014 season

Bahrain International Circuit is poised to host the opening round of the 2014 Formula One world championship, with a decision expected to be made in the coming weeks. The possibility of Bahrain hosting the first race of the season was proposed when the island welcomed F1 for the fourth round of the 2013 championship in April. The race would be friendlier for audiences in Europe and the Americas than the current race in Australia, which requires viewers to wake up very early to tune in. Furthermore, the move would coincide with a winter test being held at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi.
