Hamilton rues mistake on final Q3 lap

Lewis Hamilton believes the mistake he made on his final qualifying lap at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve cost him a chance of securing pole position, with the Mercedes driver losing out to pole-sitter Sebastian Vettel by just 87 thousandths of a second. Although a late rain shower in the shoot-out phase hampered all ten drivers as they navigated the final sector of the lap, Hamilton had been on course to challenge Vettel with his last timed effort, but an error at the Turn 13/14 chicane ended his hopes.
