Stricter engine, gearbox regulations approved

The World Motor Sport Council has approved a number of regulations changes relating to the new power units and gearboxes for 2014. As previously announced, but only now approved, only five power units will be made available to each driver next season, when the new 1.6l V6 engines are introduced. Should a driver require an entirely new unit outside of their allocated five, they will be forced to start from the pit lane. However, should only one element of the power unit require changing, such as the turbocharger, MGU or energy system, that will result in a 10-place drop.
