Mercedes passes Ferrari in standings to emerge as contenders

After three seasons of coming to grips to understand its car and its effects on its tyres, Mercedes has finally found a solution enough to propel itself as a championship contender this season. After eight rounds into the season, Mercedes has overtaken Ferrari in the constructors’ standings credited to its two wins courtesy of Nico Rosberg and the consistent results hauled in by teammate Lewis Hamilton. 'I am just trying to stay within shooting distance and stay within the (title) fight,” said Hamilton, who is 43 points behind Sebastian Vettel in the standings.
