Hamilton beats Vettel for pole at the German GP

Lewis Hamilton claimed Mercedes’ sixth and his second straight pole position of the season after the Briton edged Sebastian Vettel by a tenth to claim his third top spot of the campaign. The 2008 world champion clocked 1 minute 29.398 seconds around the Nurburgring circuit in front of the team’s home fans and equalled Juan Manual Fangio’s tally of 29 pole positions, moving up to joint seventh in the all-time list. “It’s really overwhelming,” said Hamilton who has been struggling with balance during the practice sessions. “P1, P2 and P3 were disasters… We made lots and lots of changes.” Vettel will start ahead of Red Bull teammate Mark...
