Race simulations pointed Ferrari to strategic qualifying

Ferrari have decided to tackle qualifying for the German GP in a strategic way and no go all out in the final part. Instead, both drivers set times on the medium tyres in Q3 to make sure they can start tomorrow's race on this. Fernando Alonso,Chassis 299, 8th: “The strategy we used today was dictated by looking at our average qualifying performance, given that pole is not yet within our grasp and the two scenarios were either starting fifth or sixth on the Soft tyres or start sixth or seventh on the Mediums.
