BBC sorry after F1 gaffe

The BBC has been left red-faced after it received several complaints for revealing the qualifying results of the German GP before the highlights were broadcast. The public broadcaster received more than 700 complaints from viewers after they announced during BBC1's Wimbledon coverage that Lewis Hamilton grabbed pole position at the Nurburgring ahead of the highlights programme. The error prompted Formula One fans to write to the corporation about the mistake, forcing the broadcaster to issue an apology. A statement from the BBC read: "The reference to Lewis Hamilton having secured pole position in the Formula One German Grand Prix Qualifying earlier that day was an unfortunate error...
