Hamilton upsets Vettel for Hungarian GP pole

Lewis Hamilton sprung a surprise, to himself as well as many Formula One observers, by beating Sebastian Vettel to pole position at the Hungaroring. The Briton was pessimistic about his chances on Friday after a difficult start to the weekend but a sensational lap late in Q3 saw him pip Sebastian Vettel who had begun the session as favourite for pole. The vast majority of the pole contenders fitted scrubbed soft tyres for the first run in Q3 and as a result, Hamilton’s early benchmark was considerably slower than he’d managed in Q2. The 1:20.324 from the Mercedes was obliterated by Sebastian Vettel who delivered a 1:19.506 on new options, throwing down a serious gauntlet to the rest....
