Alonso drops to third in standings behind Raikkonen

Fernando Alonso finished the Hungarian Grand Prix in fifth place on Sunday while championship rivals Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen both finished on the podium, dropping the Spaniard further back in the title fight. Alonso was second in the standings before the weekend trailing leader Vettel by 34 points but after the race, the Ferrari driver is now third 39 points behind the defending champion. Vettel finished the Hungarian GP in third behind Raikkonen who is now second in the championship, just a solitary point ahead of Alonso. At the British GP last month, Ferrari had lost second place to Mercedes in the constructors’ battle, with the gap now having increased to 14 points.
