Russia misses 2014 entry deadline

Russia has missed the deadline to apply for a place on next year's calendar, blaming promoter JSC Omega. Although construction work is still continuing at the Sochi venue, the inaugural Russian Grand Prix may have to wait a year before joining the F1 circus. According to reports, the Russian Automobile Federation missed the July 31st deadline due to a financial dispute with promoter JSC Omega, who they claim failed to sign the necessary paperwork as well as pay a fee to the FIA.
