Sebastian Vettel remains in the dark over the cause of his tyre failure, which occurred in the second of Friday’s practice sessions. Having been only sixth fastest in the rain affected morning session, Vettel struck back with the quickest time in Free Practice 2, with a best time of 1:49.331, before his session was cut short by a right rear tyre failure as he accelerated up to Blanchimot.
This failure once again raises questions over the safety of Pirelli's tyre construction, coming just three races after the British Grand Prix, which saw a high number of tyre failures over the course of the weekend.
