Greenpeace attempt to disrupt Belgian GP

Greenpeace activists scaled the main grandstand at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit just minutes before the start of the Belgian Grand Prix to demonstrate against Shell on Sunday. Several members of the environmental organisation unfurled a large banner on the grandstand which read: "Artic oil? Shell no!" Shell is the title sponsor of the Belgian GP and has recently agreed a deal to begin drilling in the Arctic circle, which Greenpeace is keen to discourage. Earlier on Sunday, two paragliders flew over the circuit with banners also protesting against the oil major. Formula One Management was keen to avoid the affair and the protest received no TV coverage.
