BMW eyeing F1 return as engine supplier

With new regulations coming into force next year BMW is considering returning to Formula 1 as an engine supplier in 2016, according to Pitpass.com. The German manufacturer had left the sport at the end of the 2009 season, ending its partnership with Sauber that lasted for four championships. Previously, it competed in the sport as an engine supplier from 2000 to 2005, providing its units to the Williams team. New rules governing engines, which will introduce1.6-litre turbocharged V6s laced with energy recovery systems to the sport in 2014, has reportedly got BMW interested.
