Felipe Massa concedes that having a strong Italian GP was "important" as contract talks with Ferrari heat up.
Having qualified fourth for Ferrari's home race, the Brazilian got off to a flying start and was up to second by the first corner.
However, he later lost out to team-mate Fernando Alonso before also losing a position to Mark Webber in the round of pit stops.
