Gutierrez changed approach

Esteban Gutierrez credited his standout performance in Singapore GP qualifying to a change in approach after the Mexican rookie made Q3 for the first time in his Formula 1 career. The 22-year-old former GP3 champion has struggled to make an impression in his debut season of F1 having failed to score a point in his first 12 attempts and up until Saturday failing to outqualify experienced team-mate Nico Hulkenberg. However, that all changed in Q2 as out-of-the-blue the Mexican hauled his Sauber above the cut line while Hulkenberg could manage only 11th place, before opting to save tyres in the final shootout and settle for tenth on the grid.
