Lotus's Alan Permane reckons that Romain Grosjean's recent upswing in form suggests he has what it takes to lead the team next year.The Frenchman was on course for the third place eventually claimed by team-mate Kimi Raikkonen in the Singapore Grand Prix, running strongly behind eventual second-place finisher Fernando Alonso before an engine valve leak forced his retirement on lap 37.
Grosjean's disappointment at his exit was evident but he had already impressed by qualifying third at Marina Bay. And having performed consistently well since before the summer break, Permane thinks the 27-year-old is well-placed to step up when Raikkonen returns to Ferrari next year.
