Russian starlet Ivan Taranov finished the Protyre Formula Renault season in style at Silverstone last weekend by winning both races in a calm and controlled fashion.
After missing the last six races in the championship, Taranov returned to action at the home of the British Grand Prix with a spring in his step, jumping back into the Scorpio Motorsport car and immediately setting a blistering pace during practice. In qualifying, this good form continued as the young Russian bagged pole position for race one and qualified P4 for race two, just 0.098 seconds off pole-sitter Wei Fung Thong.
