Honda fires up new Formula 1 engine

Honda has released a recording of its new turbocharged V6 Formula 1 engine, which was recently fired up for the first time. The Japanese brand is returning to the sport in 2015, with its McLaren partnership being announced earlier this year. Similar to the dyno soundbites published by Renault and Mercedes in recent weeks, Honda's upcoming powerplant features a higher pitch than the current crop of V8 units, although upshift and downshift noises were not present in its initial preview. Formula 1's first turbo era spanned the 1970s and 1980s. Listen here: Honda's new Formula 1 engine
