Marko: Kvyat the best candidate

Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko has dismissed claims that Daniil Kvyat got the nod for the Toro Rosso seat due to next year's Russian Grand Prix. Portuguese driver Antonio Felix da Costa was considered the favourite to replace the Red Bull-bound Daniel Ricciardo, but the seat surprisingly went to Russian teenager Kvyat. The 19-year-old is currently taking part in the Formula 3 European Championship and GP3 Series while his experience in Formula One is very limited. There has been speculation that his hasty promotion is linked to the inaugural Russian GP in 2014, but Marko says he was the best option for Toro Rosso in the medium term.
