Supreme Court to hear demand to cancel Indian Grand Prix

Preparations for the race continued as normal on Thursday Getty Images Enlarge Sunday's Indian Grand Prix could be thrown in to doubt after India's Supreme Court agreed to hear a petition seeking the cancellation of the race. Chief Justice P. Sathasivam said on Thursday that the plea will be heard on Friday, with the petition having come about because race organisers have allegedly not paid entertainment taxes from previous races. The Supreme Court previously ordered organisers to freeze 25 percent of ticket revenues until a tax dispute was settled in 2011. That ruling came in response to a Public Interest Litigation filed by campaigner Amit Kumar. Kumar is also behind the petition...
