Swiss launch bribery case investigation

Swiss prosecutors have started a criminal investigation into the bribery case involving Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone, according to a report in the Financial Times. The prosecutors are to examine a 44 million dollar payment made to German banker Gerhard Gribkowsky, who played a role in the sale of the sport to private equity group CVC back in 2006, and was later jailed for bribery, breach of trust and tax evasion. The investigation comes after Ecclestone was indicted by prosecutors in Munich, with a decision as to whether the he should be brought to trial expected in early 2014.
