Jenson Button has backed team-mate Sergio Perez to remain at McLaren next season, saying he deserves his place. Joining McLaren at the start of this season, Perez has struggled to match Button's on-track performances, scoring just 33 points to the Brit's 60. However, last time out in India, the Mexican driver put in a much-improved performance and brought his McLaren in fifth place. "He deserves to be here next year," Button told the official F1 website.
