Alonso cleared after 'big hit'

Fernando Alonso has been given the all-clear after precautionary checks in hospital following his trip over the kerbs in Abu Dhabi. Coming out of the pits after his second stop, Alonso was alongside Jean-Eric Vergne and had to take action to avoid the Toro Rosso. That action included running wide off the track and having to mount the kerbs to rejoin. Taking a heavy jolt to his back, Alonso, who finished in fifth place, went to the local hospital for precautionary checks. The Spaniard was given the all-clear. "I still have all my teeth after the impact," the double World Champion said. "My back is obviously in pain a little bit because it was a big hit."
