Mercedes engines helped lure Massa to Williams

Associated Press Enlarge Felipe Massa says Mercedes engines were a factor in his decision to join Williams for 2014. The deal was announced on Monday and will see Massa replace Pastor Maldonado as Valtteri Bottas' team-mate next year. His arrival at the team will coincide with a switch from Renault to Mercedes engines as well as a shake-up in the technical regulations. Rumours in the paddock suggest the Mercedes engine could be one of the strongest next year under the new V6 turbo regulations and Massa said it had helped ease his decision to join the team.
