McLaren set to choose Magnussen

McLaren are expected to replace Sergio Perez with Kevin Magnussen for the 2014 season, according to various media reports. The 21-year-old Dane won the Formula Renault 3.5 title ahead of fellow McLaren contractee Stoffel Vandoorne and looks set to be the first rookie to join the Woking-based team since Lewis Hamilton in 2007, according to reports by the BBC and Press Association Sport. According to the reports, McLaren would have preferred to let Magnussen gain experience elsewhere on the grid in 2014, but continued that he is expected to be Jenson Button's team-mate in 2014 after the team lost faith in Perez's abilities.
