Piquet recovering from heart surgery

Nelson Piquet is currently recovering after heart surgery at São Paulo's Albert Einstein Hospital. The 61-year-old had a stent implanted in an artery to improve blood flow. Piquet, who has medical checks to monitor a heart anomaly, went under the knife on Tuesday. He is due to return home by the end of the week and make a full recovery. Having contested a total of 14 Formula 1 seasons, Piquet notched up three world titles (1981, 1983 and 1987), 23 race victories and a further 37 podium finishes.
