Whitmarsh to give Perez 'good' finish

Martin Whitmarsh has wished Sergio Perez all the best for the future in the wake of the Mexican's announcement that he is to leave McLaren. On Wednesday night, Perez confirmed that he would be leaving McLaren at the end of this season despite having spent just one year with the Woking team. The 23-year-old thanked McLaren for the opportunity and said he did "not regret even a bit having joined them" despite not achieving the goals he set out. Whitmarsh responded to Perez's statement by also thanking the Mexican racer, who is now in the hunt for a new race seat for the 2014 campaign.
