Sauber on course for strong result after productive first day

Sauber look set to be on course for a strong result in this weekend's U.S. Grand Prix, with both Nico Hulkenberg and Esteban Gutierrez running competitively in Friday's practice sessions. Esteban Gutierrez held the upper hand over his team-mate in both sessions, the Mexican rookie quickly getting to grips with the Circuit of the Americas on his first visit to the challenging 5.5 kilometer track near Austin, Texas, to end the day sixth fastest. 'It was a very productive day,' Gutierrez, who set the fourth quickest time, in the disjointed morning session said following practice.
