Lotus once crowed about their intent on being a first-class operation in Formula 1 and not lowering themselves to the 'pay-driver' scenario that's so prevalent in F1 these days. they touted Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean as shining examples of how this team was taking the title battle seriously and paying for the best drivers.
