FIA announces big new F1 regulation changes

December 9th, 2013 (F1plus/J. Leslie).- After a meeting of the F1 Strategy Group and the Formula One Commission in Paris, permanent driver numbers and double points for the season finale have been given the thumbs up. Drivers will carry the same number throughout their F1 career unless they win the world title, where they will receive the number one - although they can choose not to use it. A similar system is currently used in other motorsport series like MotoGP. Numbers are currently assigned according to where their team finished in the constructors' standings.
