Irvine slams new double points rule

Former Ferrari F1 driver Eddie Irvine has shared his views on the decision by the FIA to award double points at the season finale, branding it 'embarrassing' and 'ridiculous.' Motorsport's governing body confirmed the regulation change earlier this month after a meeting of the F1 Strategy Group and F1 Commission in Paris. It was later added to the 2014 Sporting Regulations despite receiving a largely negative reaction from F1 fans. Abu Dhabi will host next year's season finale, which will be the first F1 race to award double points. Sebastian Vettel has already labelled the new addition 'absurd' and Irvine agrees.
