Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone has hinted that the double points rule might be dropped before the start of next season, although he believes adding more races with increased points is actually what should be done. Earlier this month, the FIA revealed that double points will be awarded at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix - the 2014 season finale - in an effort to keep the battle for both the Constructors' and Drivers' Championship alive until the end of the season.
The move has been widely criticised, but Ecclestone believes the best way forward is to increase the amount of races with double points awarded to three.
