McLaren plays down crash test concerns

– McLaren has confirmed to GPUpdate.net that it is yet to pass all mandatory FIA crash tests with its latest Formula 1 contender, but the team adds that it does not expect any major problems moving forward. Last week, rumours gathered pace that the MP4-29, which will be unveiled in an online-only digital presentation on Friday, had failed selected homologation tests, putting its attendance at the opening Jerez test under threat. When quizzed over the matter by GPUpdate.net, a McLaren spokesman said: "At this time of the year it is normal for teams to be pushing everything to the limit to extract the most performance – crash tests are no different."
