Van der Garde becomes Sauber reserve driver

Caterham F1 Team Giedo van der Garde has joined Sauber as their test and reserve driver for the 2014 season. Van der Garde raced for Caterham in 2013 but will now switch to Sauber, acting as reserve to race drivers Adrian Sutil and Esteban Gutierrez. The Dutch driver will participate in selected Friday practice sessions and tests for the team. "I consider this an important step in my career," said Van der Garde. "It is my goal to help the team with the development of the new car. But, of course, I am a racing driver, and I want to show the team and everybody else what I am capable of and that I deserve a race seat with Sauber in 2015.
