Caterham F1 Team Giedo van der Garde says that he had the option to remain with Caterham for 2014 but instead chose to join Sauber as it provided him with a better option for his future. Van der Garde made his Formula 1 debut for Caterham in 2013 but will not race in the sport this year after signing as Sauber's test and reserve driver.
