F1 TV audience falls in 2013

– F1’s global television audience fell to 450 million in 2013 - a drop of 50 million, it has been confirmed in a global media report issued by Formula One Management. F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has blamed the drop on two main factors, Sebastian Vettel’s dominance in the latter half of the season – the German won all nine races en-route to his fourth world title – while a switch from national broadcasters in both China and France also had a sizeable impact. Indeed in China the decision to move from state broadcaster CCTV to a network of 13 regional partners saw viewership reduce by almost 30 million, while in France the shift to subscription service Canal+ led to figures...
