Abu Dhabi to remain only double points race of the season

Abu Dhabi to remain only double points race of the season 1 March, 2014 The controversial and largely unpopular double points rule, which sees the 2014 F1 World Championship season finale carry twice the number of points of any other race, will remain in place but no other races will be given double points status. Moves were afoot, led by F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone, to extend double points to at least anther two races this season, but the proposal failed to get the required support during Friday's F1 Strategy Group meeting. Thus points for the Abu Dhabi race will be: 50-36-30-24-20-16-12-8-4-2. (GP247)
