The advances in safety made by grand prix racing over the years are widely recognised, but nothing can be taken for granted in what is still a dangerous sport.We've left it to Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 drivers Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton to demonstrate a few safety facts in a new and unusual way, beginning with the safety harness fitted in every F1 cockpit.Race drivers have a six-point harness that works as a lifesaver in case of an accident out on track but, as the Mercedes pair will point out, in road traffic, wearing a seatbelt reduces the risk of a fatal injury by 40–50 per cent for drivers and front seat occupants, and between 25–75 per cent for rear seat occupants.As you will...
