Donnelly named as driver steward for Malaysia

– Martin Donnelly will act as the driver steward at the Malaysian Grand Prix this weekend, it has been confirmed. The 50-year-old Ulsterman, who last carried out the task in Abu Dhabi at the end of last season, took in 15 Formula 1 events between 1989 and 1990, but sadly his F1 career was cut short when he suffered a suspension failure during practice for the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez. Despite suffering serious injuries though, he recovered sufficiently to race competitively in national events and now runs the Donnelly Track Academy in Norfolk, England. He has also held a number of racing team management positions.
