Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel hits out at engine sound

Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel has come out strongly against Formula One’s new sound, as drivers continue to be divided in their opinion of the most drastic rule changes the sport has seen arguably since its inception. Keeping in step with the changing times, Formula One has adopted hybrid power in a meaningful way for the first time, with the switch to 1.6 litre turbocharged power units at the heart of the new rules. As a result of the change, the loud, violent shriek of the old V8 engines has been replaced by a much softer throaty growl and the lack of noise compared to the old powerplants has polarized fans and attracted criticism from several quarters.
