Webber ‘very close’ to quitting in 2012

Mark Webber says he was “very close” to leaving F1 at the end of 2012 before opting for another year ahead of a switch to sportscars. Having brought his F1 career to an end at the end of last year, Webber moved to Porsche to join its World Endurance Championship (WEC) programme and scored a podium on debut at Silverstone last weekend.
