Raikkonen breaks Alonso's decade long run in Barcelona

For the first time in ten years, Fernando Alonso was out-qualified by a teammate at Catalunya, the venue of the Spanish Grand Prix, on Saturday. The Spaniard clung on to proceed to the final shootout after a close session in the second leg of qualifying and was then beaten by teammate Kimi Raikkonen in Q3. The last time a teammate started ahead of Alonso in Barcelona was in 2004 when Jarno Trulli qualified fourth while the Spaniard started eighth in a Renault. For Sunday’s race, home hero Alonso will start seventh, one place behind Raikkonen. It was the second time this season the Finn will start ahead of the two-time world champion.
