McLaren could test Honda engine this year

McLaren racing director Eric Boullier admits the team could test a Honda engine at the final in-season test of the year. While McLaren is running a Mercedes engine this season, it will renew its partnership with Honda next year as the Japanese engine manufacturer returns to the sport. With the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix set to be followed by a two-day test at the Yas Marina Circuit, Boullier confirmed it may be an early opportunity for McLaren to start testing the new engine. “We have thought about it,” Boullier said. “We are currently running Mercedes engines until Abu Dhabi, so we won't run anything else.
