Hamilton tops shortened morning session

Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time on the first morning of testing in Spain as rain led to a shortened session. Mercedes unsurprisingly set the pace during a productive morning, with Hamilton completing 27 laps and setting a best time of 1:44.291 on the intermediate tyre. With the track already wet from the start of running, further persistent rain ensured it stayed that way throughout the morning. With the forecast set fair for the afternoon, the lunch break was brought forward by an hour to 1200 to allow an elongated afternoon session running from 1300-1800.
