Chilton quickest on day one of post-Spain test

Max Chilton ended the first day of the post-Spanish Grand Prix test fastest for Marussia with a time of 1:26.434 - three seconds quicker than his qualifying lap - albeit under completely different conditions. Chilton edged out Lotus's Charles Pic by three-tenths in the afternoon once the circuit had dried up following an morning shower. Lewis Hamilton topped the timing screens in the morning, but settled for third after concentrating on analysing Mercedes Spanish Grand Prix upgrades. It was the same story for much of the grid, with various testing rigs being used up and down the pit lane.
